Booking Shifts

How do I find out about available shifts?

We will let you know when an event is open for booking so keep an eye on your emails, texts, and on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We open events for booking roughly 6-8 weeks before the event starts.

We will contact you via the email address and mobile number that you register with on your application. Keep this information up to date so you don’t miss out on important information and work available.

How do I book shifts?

All you have to do is call the office to book your shifts once you have received notification that an event is open for booking. The office phone number is 01676 549001.

What do I do if I can’t make the shifts that I have booked?

If you are unable to attend your confirmed shifts you will need to let the office team know as soon as possible so that they can arrange for someone else to fill the shift.

If you are unable to attend at short notice, i.e. after 5pm Friday of the weekend which you are due to work, you must notify the onsite contact. These contact details will always be found in your confirmation email. Please bear in mind that the onsite contact will be working long hours with late finishes and early starts over the weekend, so to call them in the middle of the night is unreasonable.

Camping

Can I camp at events?

Lots of our events have a CTM staff campsite which you are completely welcome to use if you are working. We will let you know if an event has camping available when we release the shifts for booking.

What equipment do I need to take?

You will need the following equipment as a minimum:

  • Waterproof tent – make sure you check your tent before you leave for an event to make sure you have all of the bits and there are no holes!!
  • Thick sleeping bag, pillow and ground matt / airbed – even though it’s summer, the nights get cold
  • Portable stove and cooking utensils – this can be a real lifesaver and money saver at an event. You will be able to buy food onsite but it can be expensive
  • Toiletries – forgetting these can be really annoying and onsite prices are higher than normal
  • Towels – You may want to bring more than one, to keep clean and dry on site
  • Torch – Extremely useful for getting around site during the night

Do I have to pay for camping?

It is free to camp but you do need to provide all of your own camping equipment.

Uniform

What uniform do I have to wear?

Our uniform standard is white shirt, black trousers and suitable footwear (sturdy black shoes, walking boots or wellington boots). Your uniform must be clean and ironed. We do not allow jeans, leggings, jeggings or sportswear as a substitute to trousers.

Unless specified, our events follow the same uniform standard. We will inform you at the time of booking if there is a variation on the requirements for a particular event.

All staff must follow the company standard with regards to uniform as you are representing CTM in front of our clients and customers. CTM do not supply standard uniform.

Do you provide any uniform?

We will provide all necessary personal protective equipment (i.e. high vis vest) at events. We do not supply standard uniform (trousers, shifts, footwear, etc).

Transport

Do you provide transport?

We don’t provide transport, you must make your own travel arrangements to and from events. We will send you all relevant information that you will need to get to site (i.e. site address, onsite meeting point).

Please ensure that you have gathered all the travel information that you require to make the journey from home to the event in good time before you are due to leave for site. If you need any assistance, feel free to contact the office who will be happy to assist.

Can I lift share?

Lift sharing is a popular option for getting from event to event. It is efficient, environmentally friendly and will save you and other occupants money. Please join our closed Facebook group, CTM-Official, where you can communicate to fellow workers and arrange lift shares.

Wages

When do I get paid?

You will be paid on the 15th of the month following an event.

How do I get paid?

We pay you directly into the bank account that you have registered with on your application.

Welfare

Is food provided onsite by CTM?

We don’t provide food for you on site. You will be able to buy food onsite, however, this can be expensive so we advise that you bring your own supplies.

Does CTM provide water onsite?

Water will be available on site, but we recommend that you take a large bottle of water with you (at least 1 litre) as a water point may not be nearby. You should also keep the bottle to refill if necessary. If you need water, please ask your supervisor who will arrange to get some to you, but bear in mind there may be a delay, so do not wait until the last minute to do so.

Who do I contact if I feel unwell?

If you feel unwell while you are onsite, please contact your onsite supervisor or manager as soon as possible.

Do I need to wear sun cream?

In hot weather, please ensure that you keep yourself covered (underneath your high-vis uniform) and take plenty of sun cream/lotion of SPF factor 15 or above. Be aware that you can still suffer the effects of sun/heat on a cloudy day!

What should I wear in cold weather conditions?

We recommend that you wear your coat and plenty of warm clothing under your uniform. A dark woollen hat and gloves may be beneficial in the colder weather.

What should I take to site on very wet days?

You will need to take waterproof clothing with you to site. We recommend that you take spare uniform and clothes in case you get very wet, particularly if you are working at a large event that runs over a few days.
